BUILDING PROJECTS IN THE PIPELINE

Business and Agency Leaders to Present Upcoming Construction Projects to

Architects, Engineers, Builders and More at CSI Meeting

With increasing news of businesses suffering and the economy stumbling, building professionals are gathering at a January 29, 2009 meeting with local leaders to learn about upcoming construction projects that will give the local economy a lift.

³This Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) meeting is a unique gathering this year and we¹d like to kick off the new year with some hope,² says organization president Mark Richards. ³We¹re bringing together a cross-section of building professionals to discuss upcoming projects and to also continue their education in sustainability and other issues that affect the overall market.²

The CSI meeting will be held on January 29 at the Eugene Hilton and Conference Center with free educational workshops on a host of building issues from 2:00 – 4:30 PM. Topics (full program attached) include sustainability experts discussing green roofs and photovoltaics for roofs. A social hour and product show follows at 5:30 PM with a dinner at 6:30 PM.

At 7 pm, a special ³Projects in the Pipeline 2009² panel will present potential or currently planned projects that will provide local economic stimulus. Panel members include: Philip Farrington, Peacehealth, Dave Hauser, Eugene Chamber of Commerce, Jon Lauch, Eugene School District, 4J, Chris Ramey, University of Oregon, Mike Sullivan, City of Eugene, David Suchart, Lane County, and John Tamulonis, City of Springfield.

³ This meeting is an exceptional networking opportunity for those in construction related professions and will give some insights into the future of our communities.² Richards said. ³And for the first-time, we¹ll include these interesting and informative educational workshops as part of our anual joint meeting.²

Professional associations represented at the meeting will include: AIA (American Institute of Architects), NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction), CFMA (Construction Financial Managers Association) and others.

The meeting is generously sponsored by: Jones and Roth, Ward Insurance, McKenzie Commercial Contractors, CH2MHill and Chambers Construction.
